It is an irrefutable fact that nowadays many children are becoming more overweight than in the past. One of the most serious issues facing modern society is childhood obesity. The main reason for this is unhealthy lifestyle habits, and a viable solution is promoting physical activity and healthy eating. There are a variety of possible reasons for this, but steps might be taken to address this issue.
There are some widespread serious reasons why more and more children are gaining weight. One of the most visible reasons is that these days children spend too much time indoors, especially playing video games or using smartphones. Describing the above-mentioned reason in detail, it is obvious that, because of this, they move less and burn fewer calories. Secondly, fast food has become very popular among young people.This means many children eat junk food like burgers, chips, and sugary drinks instead of home made healthy meals.
Inevitably, some measures should be implemented to deal with this issue of childhood obesity. To begin with, parents and schools should encourage children to do more physical activities such as playing sports or walking. For example, in some schools physical education classes and after-school clubs help children stay fit and active. Another vital remedy is to reduce the amount of unhealthy food available to children. As a consequence, some countries have introduced laws that limit advertising of fast food to children and promote healthy diets instead.
In conclusion, for me, it is clear that the main reasons for childhood obesity are lack of exercise and eating unhealthy food, and the most optional solutions is encouraging physical activity.
