Nowadays, there are plenty of opportunities for students to work a part-time job in order to help their parents with their school fee expenses and daily allowance. This is applicable if the students’ parents ask them to, or in some cases when the students decide to move out from their parents’ home to be fully independent, especially in western cultures. However, in most cases, parents are naturally very generous in supporting their children in terms of education up until they finish university.
There are a lot of advantages if teenagers decide to work a part-time job to contribute to the financial burden of attending school. One of them is that they will learn how to value money and tend to spend wisely. In addition, having to experience working on their own will make them appreciate the efforts of their parents more.
On the other hand, one of the disadvantages of teenagers working part-time jobs while attending school is that they tend to focus less on their studies because they are physically exhausted at work. As a result, they might fail in some of their subjects at school, which can add more years of attending school.
All in all, I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in this case. It is better for teenagers to work a part-time job while attending school to develop a strong sense of independence. On top of that, they will learn not only to value their own efforts but also the efforts of people who willingly support and provide for them as well, such as their parents and siblings.
