In contemporary society, in certain workplaces, women are treated unfairly in terms of job opportunities and salary payment regardless of their achievements in various sectors. In my opinion, gender equality can be acquired by providing equal opportunities for both genders and giving education about gender bias.
To begin with, companies should eliminate the gender pay gap and give unprejudiced judgements to both genders during recruitments. First of all, companies can conduct periodically inspection of the salaries paid to men and women in the same roles. By doing so, they can ensure equality in both genders’ payment. Secondly, companies should appoint a recruitment team with diverse mindset. Therefore, during job interviews, similar judgement and evaluation will be given despite the interviewees’ gender, in return promoting fairness in job applications. As a result, these measures can break gender biases and help provide chances to the discriminated employees.
Another approach to address gender inequality is by educating employees about the biases. Nowadays, different people have different prejudices and preferences about gender. Giving proper training to workers about this problem can help them identify discriminatory situations and recognize the contributions of women in their jobs. Accordingly, this helps build an empathetic workplace culture and promote gender equity.
To conclude, although gender discrimination cannot be immediately stopped, balancing payments, removing biased recruitment and raising employees’ awareness about the situations can be vital for future equity in workplace.
