Biodiversity is changing year by year, sparking lots of debates among people. One of such debates is that numerous creatures are close to extinction; some individuals argue that only beneficial animals should be preserved. I strongly disagree with this point of view, since there are two primary reasons.
Firstly, saving only the useful ones makes it inaccessible for our generation to see them in real life. Everyone in this world is interested in who are living on our planet Earth, and visit zoos to see them in reality. If people don’t care about useless animals such as pandas and chameleons, the younger generation will not be able to see them, as they will become extinct. For example, everyone knows about dinosaurs and is interested in them. However, they are not on the Earth anymore. All of the people in the world wished to meet dinosaurs at least once.
On the other hand, extinctions may lead to a broken food chain. The food chain is not just named like this, because the food chain looks like a real chain; if you break one point of a simple chain, the connection between them fully vanishes. Similarly, if one particular animal in the food chain becomes extinct, it leads other species to become extinct too.
In conclusion, there are two reasons why I disagree with this statement. The former one is young generation will not encounter these species, and the latter reason is that it may break the food chain, which is a significant part of our life.
