Band 7+: Many factors motivate people in the workplace. Some people think money is the most important. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

For many individuals, earning a lot of money through working hard has become their most significant goal. While I agree that money is a crucial motivator, I still believe that other motivations, such as personal fulfillment and career growth, also play a vital role in making people pursue their professional life.

On the one hand, financial stability is undoubtedly a primary reason why people continue working. In this day and age, the role of money has become increasingly crucial, as accessing to vital services, such as healthcare or education systems, has become more expensive and inaccessible to many people. For instance, besides studying at school, many college students tend to work hard to earn more money that they can support their family in terms of finance. As a result, in order to maintain the stability of people’s personal life and their family, they have to concentrate intensively on making more money at the workplace

On the other hand, I believe that there are still other equally vital factors that keep people working. One of the most important motivations is personal fulfillment. This is because many individuals find a sense of satisfaction and purpose when they contribute to meaningful group activities or achieve professional goals. For instance, some people working as teachers or doctors often work hard not only for financial rewards but also because they gain emotional satisfaction from helping others and contributing to society’s development. Additionally, career promotion is also a significant motivator. This is attributed to the fact that people naturally fostered to pursue a career because they not only want to gain various skills and experience but also earn recognition in their fields. Moreover, by working in a professional work environment, people can expand their social connections or improve their interpersonal skills, which are really necessary for both personal and professional growth.

In conclusion, while I agree financial motivation is a major reason why people work hard, I also believe that personal growth, career advancement and social connections are equally significant in motivating people to continue working.
