In todays materialistic world, it is a common practice to measure the success of an individual or a region on the scale of their wealth. For this reason, improving the economical condition of a country is by far the primary objective of their respective government. However, a considerable number of people argue that there are other areas also which are as important as the financial standing of a state. This essay will discuss both perspectives in detail before giving my opinion.

On one hand, proponents of economic progress argues that it can attract foreign investors and lead to arrival of multinational companies. Such governments claim that this will bring new services to their countries which can overall improve the living standards of the citizens. A relevant example of this would be the arrival of Uber(an online platfrom-based transport firm ) in Pakistan, which proved to be very successful, especially due to the use by students and women, as the public transport of the country was never a safe and reliable option. Furthermore, this can also create many job opportunities such as Uber created a lot of vacancies for umemployed drivers.

On the other hand, those equally in favour of other types of progress hold the view that a country can not manage to succeed with just economical prosperity. They argue that there are other areas also to get better at such as foriegn relationships. With this regard, a state can not be a peaceful place if it is under constant pressure by its enemies and have no allies to support. Therefore, it is equally important to develop strong bonds with other countries. For instance, even though surrounded by enemies, India is one of the best place to live in, because of constant support by its super-power ally ,the USA. Similarly, it is equally important to make efforts to improve the literacy rate, because it helps in achieving every other goal of a country including economic progress and foreign relationships.

In conclusion, many governments may consider that improving the country’s financial standing should be the major mission because it help in bringing international companies and improving job prospects. However, I believe that there are other areas which need the same level of attention such as making allies and promotion of eduaction, as without developments in these sector a country could not prosper.
