Today, the number of overweight individuals is increasing sharply. Raising the prices of unhealthy foods could be a crucial step in addressing this issue. I fully support this idea for two reasons, which I will explain in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, it is important to mention that higher food prices may compel people to work harder in order to afford more expensive meals. When prices rise, individuals need to earn more money, which could lead some to give up unhealthy foods. For instance, my friend’s salary is sufficient for his needs. If food prices increase, he might have to work harder, which could ultimately help him lose weight.
Secondly, another relevant point is that healthier foods often appear to be more affordable. Since nutritious foods can be less expensive than unhealthy, fattening options, people may be more inclined to choose them. As I mentioned earlier, my friend dislikes both excessive work and high food costs. By making smarter choices, he can improve both his financial situation and his health.
In conclusion, after considering all aspects, I believe that increasing the cost of unhealthy foods will encourage individuals to work harder to afford healthier options, leading them to make better dietary choices and overall improve their well-being.
