Today, travelling to foreign countries for tourism is more common than before. This development has both advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, the positive sides, such as gaining a wider worldview and promoting cultural exchange, outweigh the possible negative impacts on local traditions, and local life of people.
On the one hand, international travel allows holidaymakers to unlock new traditions and experience another country’s culture. This kind of cultural tourism helps people understand each other better, because when people learn about lifestyles different from their own, they become more openminded. For instance, tourists visiting Japan often take part in traditional tea ceremonies, which not only supports cultural heritage but also gives visitors respect for another way of living.
On the other hand, tourism can sometimes cause problems for local people. Large number of visitors may disturb residents and even damage traditions. Some tourists may behave in ways that are opposite to local religious or cultural rules, which creates tension. For example, in one country, a woman was arrested for dancing in front of national flag, which shows how seriously certain cultural rules are taken. In contrast, if people choose ecotourism and travel responsibly, they can reduce such problems, and local culture can be protected.
In conclusion, although tourism may sometimes have a negative impact on traditions and daily life, it also brings many benefits. It allows cultural exchange and helps people see the world in a wider way. Therefore, I believe that international travel in generally a positive development .
