In my opinion, social media has both positive and negative effects on teenagers, but its influence depends on how it is used. When used responsibly, it can be a useful and educational tool, but overuse can cause serious problems.
On the positive side, social media helps teenagers stay connected with friends and family, especially those who live far away. It also allows young people to express themselves and share their ideas. For example, many teenagers learn new skills such as graphic design, languages, or public speaking through short videos and online communities. In addition, social media can increase awareness of global issues and motivate teenagers to participate in social activities.
However, there are also negative aspects. Teenagers may spend too much time on social media, which can affect their studies and sleep. Constant comparison with others can lower self-esteem and cause anxiety. Moreover, exposure to unrealistic lifestyles and harmful content may negatively influence their behavior.
Overall, I believe social media is neither completely good nor bad. Teenagers should be taught how to use it wisely, with clear limits and guidance from parents and schools, to benefit from its advantages while avoiding its risks.
