Band 9: Schools are no longer necessary because children can get so much information available through the Internet.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s digital age, the advent of the Internet has made homeschooling more accessible, leading some to believe that there is no need for traditional educational establishments as information can be easily accessed online. From my perspective, I totally disagree with this notion and contend that schools remain necessary since they can provide students with a structured educational framework and an effective learning environment, which cannot be fully replicated through home study with digital resources.

On the one hand, those approving the closure of schools may put forward a compelling argument. One reason is that the Internet affords children the convenience to access resources. It is predicated on the fact that it allows them to obtain a vast range of information across various subjects with the help of internet-connected devices, irrespective of time or location. Moreover, there are also various education websites that provide free video lessons, which are conducive to self-directed learning at home for children. However, it is important to note that such advantages are not the sole privilege of home-educated children as those attending schools can also benefit from diverse learning resources and materials available on digital learning platforms.

For this reason, I am convinced that schools should remain in operation. One of the main reasons for my stance is that schools are uniquely equipped to ensure the knowledge imparted is both accurate and systematically organized. Educational institutions generally use standardized and rigorously verified curricula, with structured lessons planned by experienced professionals. Such a schedule helps students acquire the necessary knowledge coherently while the vast array of information from digital sources can make it challenging for students to select relevant content and gain comprehensive insights into subjects. Another justification for my support lies in the optimal education setting that schools offer to students. Specifically, the comfort of home and the autonomy to manage learning time might result in procrastination and reduced concentration on academic tasks among students. In contrast, the competitive environment in schools, fostered by peer pressure, can foster greater motivation discipline, potentially enhancing children’s academic performance.

In conclusion, while using the Internet to enrich knowledge can be helpful to some extent, I maintain that schools are still a necessity due to their structured teaching methodologies and ideal learning environment.
