It is undeniable that powerful countries possess nuclear arsenals these days, and some believe that this trend has a positive impact on the world. While this assertion holds some truth, I personally do not believe that we are benefiting from it on a large scale. Therefore, I wholly disagree with the statement.
Firstly, the use of nuclear weapons is mainly intended to maintain world peace through instilling fear in humans. Looking back at history, when scientists first discovered the primary component of nuclear weapons, uranium, they used it for war. This scenario occurred during World War II when the USA bombed some Japanese cities, leading to dire consequences. However, this was not the end; in the following years, the USSR and the United States of America entered the Cold War, where they had the capacity to devastate the Earth with a single touch. Fortunately, this was not carried out because both superpowers were afraid of the extinction of humanity and biodiversity. This tendency continues to this day, with nearly every country fearing the possession of nuclear weapons.
Secondly, the maintenance of nuclear weapons does not guarantee safety. It is an indisputable fact that nuclear weapons have a specific period when they should be dismantled. In other words, if nuclear weapons are not eliminated in time, they can explode. Additionally, the temperature should be regularly monitored to prevent unwanted consequences. These examples illustrate that one mistake could result in catastrophes for all inhabitants of the Earth.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that there are no benefits from nuclear weapons apart from maintaining world peace.
