In today’s world, where there are both good people and bad people, both can commit crimes but committing a crime has consequences. Violent crimes are the most dangerous crimes a person can commit. Some people advocate for the death penalty for those who commit violent crimes, while others say that capital punishment is unacceptable in contemporary society. Stopping violent crimes is a difficult task for the government. For the betterment of the country, crimes should be stopped so that the country’s image is not damaged.
I am a strong advocate for the death penalty for those who commit violent crime. Violent crime has no place in society. If there is less harsh punishment for violent crime, people will do it more frequently. So, to stop violent crime, the death penalty is the best punishment. People will learn from criminals’ stories and will not try to commit crimes. By giving harsh punishments, justice will be served as we say “tit for tat”. One example is from society that the percentage of rapes is not decreasing, and many women are in fear. They cannot move freely at night because criminals commit these acts with no shame or fear, because they know that they will be in jail and, after some period, they will be released. If these criminals feared that they would die after doing this, they might not try or would think twice before attempting. It is human psychology that people fear death.
Targeted killing of people is also a violent crime. If someone commits this crime and the punishment is life imprisonment, others with a similar mindset might also kill someone they hate most, because they will think that they will go to jail like others. So, the death penalty will give fear to criminals, and they will think twice before engaging in violent activities.
