In recent years, there has been a growing debate over whether hard work is the primary reason for success or luck plays a bigger role. In my opinion, success can not be achieved without hard work as a person needs to be skilled to be successful which is not possible if they do not work hard for it.
One of the primary reasons is that it takes time and effort to learn things in life. If a person decides to rely on only luck, they would not be able to gain a thorough understanding of the field in which they are looking for work. They need to spend time to polish their skills and gain real-world knowledge before they can ace an interview or start a new business. An investment banker cannot be successful by relying on luck if he does not work hard to understand how the stock market works.
Another significant point is maintaining success. Even if a person gets through the interview for a job by luck, they need to have the necessary experience to be successful in that position and prove to their bosses that they are capable enough to be a part of the team. A real test of a person’s hard work is when they are able to prove that they are deserving of success through their work. A lawyer is only successful if they are able to prove their client not guilty in the courtroom. No amount of luck can make that happen if they don’t have the hard work behind them.
In conclusion, while luck can be one of the many factors for the success of a person, hard work remains the main reason. I firmly believe that hard work is the most crucial complement of success because success cannot be sustained based on fate alone.
