There is a belief that sports competitions are a burden for the young generation’s emotional well-being. As a result, they suggest banning young individuals from these competitions. In my opinion, I partly disagree with this recommendation. This essay will explain my perspective further with relevant examples.
One of the main reasons why this suggestion is irrelevant is that youth is usually the time when people’s emotional health are at their peaks. If they grow older, for example past their 40s, they will not have the strength needed to compete. Additionaly, these competitions are a chance for youngters to enhance their mental stability and self-motivation because of the intense environment, as well as the pressure to be the winner.
However, sports competitions can be harmful to young people’s mental health. Stressful training can lead to not just physical injuries, but damage them emotionally. For instance, Alexandra Trusova, a figure skater, said she hated this sport despite once being passionate about skating. This is probaly the result of high-pressure training for a long period of time. Speaking of Alexandra Trusova who has failed to gain the gold medal, athletes having the same situation with her may face criticism from their coaches, audiences or sometimes even their fans.
