This essay will broadly look over the concepts around the effects of violence in media, cinema, and even TV shows on people’s behaviors.
There is no doubt that the programs we are watching on TV or the cinema and films that we are enjoying sometimes contain highly graphic scenes. Although there are usually alarming labels regarding the genre of the film, it may not be always true. Majority of people might claim that they had watched the horror or criminal movie at least one time on their lifetime. However, not all of the viewers ended up becoming a wrongdoer. Instead, those scenes have a possibility to show cast the consequences of unconscious behavior. Once it is clearly stated, the people with empathy would not ever try to do something that would bring such results.
Meanwhile on the other hand, the critics of these ideas argue that the violence in media and films does have negative outcomes in terms of people’s way of managing themselves. Personally, I consent more with this group of debaters. There are some significant examples that cannot be denied support this statement. Looking back to nearly 2 decades, there was a very popular TV show in Turkey called as “The Walley of Wolfs”. The show became so popular that it even decreased the level of traffic during the airing hours as everyone would rush to their homes to watch it. The theme of soap-opera was criminal and the focus was over the shadow activities by mafia groups. After quite the time, the country disclosed the information stating the correlation between growth for popularity of the show and a criminal rate. There were quite murder incidents that featured high level of similarities with show.
Thus, I profoundly support the idea that there should be certain principles over the rate of a violence in the media as this is something require consciousness.
