It is clear that, people have different views about using bicycle. While, most people claim that bike could be a detrimental vehicle for transportation. I believe that cycling has several benefits for the public and the environment.
On one hand, some people consider the disadvantages of using bikes for commuting. Firstly, bicycles are not suitable in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or freezing temperatures. Secondly, bikes may not be convenient for long distances or urgent situations. For example, someone living in the suburbs outside the city center or someone running late for work or school. Finally, cycling requires professional equipment that can be quite costly, such as knee protectors or helmets. In countries like Iran, where bicycle lanes are not constructed by the municipality, there are frequent accidents leading to premature deaths. Therefore, bikes can be a hazardous mode of transportation.
On the other hand, bicycles have positive impacts on the environment and individuals in many ways. This mode of transportation is environmentally friendly, leading to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Cycling also helps decrease air pollution and alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, cycling can have benefits for physical and mental health, such as improving muscle strength through pedaling and fostering friendships by participating in cycling tours. For instance, in South Korea, there are well-maintained bicycle lanes used by people of all ages for various purposes. As a result, Korean people exhibit great physical strength and mental resilience compared to others.
In conclusion, while there are valid arguments against bicycles as a means of transport, I would argue that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ultimately, biking is beneficial for public health and the environment.
