To commence with, health care is a basic need for every human being. Some people argue that it should be provided free of cost, while others believe individuals should pay their medical expenses. Both sides will be discussed in the forthcoming paragraphs.
Considering the first view, free health care can ensure that every person, do not have to worry about their financial status, receives proper treatment. This can improve public health and reduce mortality rates. For instance, in countries like Canada and the UK, where health care is free, people do not avoid medical treatment due to high costs. Secondly, when medical services are free, society have a major benefits. To cite an example, early diagnosis of diseases prevents severe health complications, which ultimately reduces the burden on hospitals and increases the overall productivity of a nation.
To shed light on the later view, some believe that people should pay for their medical expenses to get the better quality of health services. First and foremost, when people pay for treatment, they value medical resources more and avoid unnecessary visits to hospitals. For example, in private hospitals, patients often receive faster and better services than in government hospitals. Not only this, but also individuals who pay for their health care can choose better treatment options according to their needs. To give a paradigm, many people prefer private hospitals over public ones because of the advanced facilities available.
To recapitulate, free health care ensures equal medical access for all, while paid health care maintains quality and efficiency. In my opinion, a balanced approach is ideal. Basic health care services should be free for everyone, but people who can afford it should contribute to advanced medical treatments. This will ensure that everyone receives the necessary care while maintaining high-quality medical services.
