It is often argued that many schools should encourage children to absorb knowledge about recycling and reducing waste. However, others hold the opposite belief that parents ought to teach children about these lessons at home. In this essay, I will consider both points of view and present my perspective.
On the one hand, proponents of individuals claim that recycling and reducing waste should be taught at schools for children. Lots of schools are capable of providing a standardized curriculum about this field. Teachers are likely to bring basic lessons, so children will gain a deeper understanding about these lessons. Furthermore, children are practiced by collective activities at school which is fully equipped with advanced infrastructure and appliances for teaching. When children learn together, it can help fosters not only widen their knowledge about this field but also boost other social skills such as responsibility and teamwork.
On the other hand, one significant reason for teaching children at home is that family can have a direct influence on children’s daily behaviours and sustainable habits. Everyday, children are taught many valuable lessons about recycling and reducing waste to remember permanently. Parents do a lot of basic activities such as using cloth bags instead of plastic ones or recycling kitchen waste effectively so that children can observe and imitate these works. Therefore, home is an integral part of reinforcing and sustaining eco-friendly behaviors.
In my perspective, I strongly believe that children ought to be taught how to recycle and reduce waste at both schools and homes. school can provide theoretical knowledge and raise awareness on a broad scale but having difficulty to build a consistent habit without support from families. Hence, support from both will help children become well-rounded.
In conclusion, although both views bring certain benefits, I am convinced that children should be taught how to recycle and reduce waste at schools and homes hold more validity in the long run.
