Many individuals are of the opinion that organizibg annual driving exams is the best method to promote road safety. From my perspective, I mostly disagree with this statement for several reasons.
The most significant drawbacks of this viewpoint is that annual driving exams are impractical and time-consuming. In a majority of large cities, testing every drivers requires thousands of people to gather at certain places, causing long waiting lines. Therefore, residents tend to feel exhausted and annoying when retaking yearly tests because it not only waste significantly their time, but also their expenditure, which are better to be allocated to different factors.
Admittedly, there are some practical solutions. There is a fact that improving infrastructure and law rules could enhance safety better. Undoubtedly, when governments and local authorities spend money to redevelop and upgrade roads, traffic lights, and traffic systems, the driving experiences among drivers can be enhanced, directly contributing to a reduction in some accidents. In addition, introducing stricter rules makes them comprehend negative consequences of careless driving, thereby making them more cautious and raising their awareness.
However, this viewpoint also brings a specific benefit. Organizing annual driving tests helps identify unsafe drivers. In reality, these yearly exams ensure drivers stay updated on new laws and safety techniques when engaging in traffic. Moreover, if people are checked regularly, residents who have dangerous and careless driving habits could be detected timely, promoting driving safe environment. As a result, the number of accidents in lots of areas tend to show a considerable decline.
In conclusion, although organizing annual driving tests helps identify unsafe drivers, resulting in a reduction in accidents, it is considered as an impractical and time-consuming method, while there are still several effective sollutions.
