It is claimed that violent films encourage criminal behaviour. I dont fully agree with this point of view. I would argue that family environment and social factors play a far more significant role. And it is an important theme now because governments aim to curb the rise in crime.
From my experience, family environment plays a much more significant role than violent films do. This can be attributed to the fact that in a family where children are well-socialised and raised with clear boundaries. Consequently, they will not commit a crime simply from watching a film. We process information and understand the difference between right and wrong. Nonetheless, in a negative family environment, a person may incorrectly perceive and process the information presented in a film.
Even adults сan сommit crimes, some criminal persons strive to imitate their hero from movies. For instance, there are many maniacs who imitate a main hero from movie «Saw».
Although it is true to say that behavioural changes after watching a film can also affect adults, this only applies to those with an unstable mental state. If watching a film really changed everyone for the worse, such movies would have been banned immediately.
Generally, I want to say that everyone has an individual mind but in normal situations your mind usually is static. Only children and adults with mental disorders can commit crimes, and watching a film don’t play a significant role in this situation, watching violent films adds fuel to the fire rather than creating the whole situation.
