With the changes in societal norms and evolving perspectives, there are differing views on whether watching TV has a negative impact on children or if it benefits to children’s development as they grow. While both points hold some truth, I believe that the latter view carries more weight.
Proponents of the first opinion cite various reasons to support their stance. They argue that today’s media is manipulated by authorities. This, in turn, negatively effects to their natural ways of thinking. For example, the cartoons they watch regularly are filled with love to governments, neglecting real-life children issues such as healthcare and nutrition. Thus, when they grow up, they try to close an-eye despite such problems around them. Moreover, the control of mass media is often challenging. Many children are influenced by overseas mentality due to foreign media shows. It is not easy to cover daily children based shows made by local film makers because of limited time and funding issues. Therefore, they try to use other countries’ TV contents. Even though they analyze each one by one, it is difficult to find fully matched ones to their culture.
Despite these arguments, I assert that watching TV streams are beneficial to children’s growth. TVs not only brings entertainment, but also makes way learning new things. They can pursue knowledge through cartoons and children based programs. While social media and the internet are filled with bias and unacceptable behaviors, such an approach helps us leave our children less or little danger. Additionally, it is cost-effective and less harmful over other digital devices. While other digital technology can cause some illnesses due to excessive screen time, watching TV is less likely to bring such issues.
In conclusion, although I am a partially favor of not watching TV as its governmental manipulation and the negative influences in a foreign media, it holds more significance on acquiring new knowledge and less harmful impacts on health.
