Conflict is normal in the period of being a teenager. During this time, many of them become aggressive and fight with their parents. Some say it is a crucial part of development, while others claim that such behaviors may get worse if not prevented. I personally agree with the first option.
Firstly, parent and teenage quells may cause them to set strong boundaries. This is because if caregivers tell them what they should do and what they should not, children start to avoid them and run away from even positive attitudes. In adolescence period, teenager’s brains undergo specific and dramatic development. For example, they will start to control impulses and think ahead and also they feel they have the the right to make decisions if they want to. Making arguments with their parents may hurt their feelings which in turn causes them to stay away from their providers.
On the other hand, many young people make an argument with their parents to be more independent and responsible for some things in their lives. Take their dream jobs as an example. If caregivers do not like their choice, they will force their teenage children to choose the job they want. However, it looks like listening to and understanding young people’s ambitions is not their problem at all. In turn, children feel untrusted and try to prove to them that they are old enough to do what they want. These conflicts can even increase teenager’s self-esteem and decision-making skills from a young age.
In conclusion, while difficulties with setting boundaries with teenagers may be the reason for quells, I believe, arguments cause young people to be more independent and confident.
