Thanks to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence in the last decade, our society, supported by various robots, has come to be more realistic. I believe the advantages of the development of robots outweigh the downsides. This is because humans will be able to focus on generating even more creative ideas instead of carrying out repetitive and tedious works. Additionally, robots will be a lifesaver for the aging society, the crucial issue that most of the developed countries are addressing.
Robots learn new things much quicker than humans. Considering their strength in analyzing the inputs and seeking the specific patterns, robots will take over most routine works. Therefore, humans are allowed to devote themselves to creativity. However, some criticize that the replacement by robots may damage humans’ literacy and numeracy skills. This is because robots may take away the opportunities that they acquired the fundamental skills to learn something new. Another benefit is that robots potentially help caregivers and elderly people. The population of elderly is gradually rising among developed countries like Japan, and it is often said that elderly now need to look after other elderly because of the depletion of young caregivers. The robots will support vulnerable old people to move and do chores. However, the robots can only handle physical matters and humans are still required to interact with old people since they often ask for more mental support.
In conclusion, although the introduction of robots adversely affects our society, I still believe in the benefits that robots incorporate. To build a better world, humans need more time to focus on the jobs only humans can work on.
