The discussion on whether young individuals should be practical about their future professions or choose whatever they prefer is a popular one nowadays. In this essay, I will explore both sides of the argument and explain why I believe that giving freedom to youth career-wise is the best decision.
On the one hand, the conservative approach to choose high-paid and valuable for society jobs was proven to be stable. Students whose parents advised them to pursue a career in law, medicine, or economics tend to grow into prestigious workers with high paychecks. It may be attributed to the fact that parents possess foresight, know what jobs will be in extreme demand in the future. Thus, money can be regarded as a key driver in such situations. Also, the surroundings will pay greater tribute to those who work at serious and valuable positions.
On the other hand, the decision about further education and professional field is a sacred choice of an individual. Youngsters that rely on themselves learn to be accountable for their own winnings or mistakes. Without the freedom to choose, they are not able to acquire indispensable traits such as responsibility or confidence. Moreover, opting for favorable and desirable paths makes people happier and more fulfilled. Studies have showed that those who enjoy their occupation tend to have more energy, complete their work better and be satisfied with life overall.
In conclusion, while adopting a pragmatic approach will guarantee a stable income and prestige from the environment, being able to choose a profession freely will be much more joyous and fulfilling. I believe in teaching teenagers responsibility on their own mistakes and failures and allowing them to follow their passions.
