In the contemporary era, there has been an ongoing trend toward the living standard of citizens witnessing a decrease in several nations. This state of affairs can be attributed to many factors, and this essay will suggest some viable solutions to mitigate this problem.
There are two major reasons as to why the standard of living of people who live in cities is reduced. Chief of these is that with a significant number of people who reside in megacities, the means of transportation they utilize to commute will bring about a colossal amount of volume of toxic exhaust fumes, which are detrimental to the environment and atmosphere in the cities. Environmental pollution aside, if more and more people move from the countryside to the urban areas due to a better quality of life, this will escalate the demand for accommodation and food supplies, which can be the precursor to an increasing crime rate.
In order to address the aforementioned issue, some measures should be implemented immediately. Firstly, some campaigns that raise public awareness about environmental degradation should be intensified. Once people are aware of it, they will be nudged toward more sustainable choices, such as switching from personal vehicles to public transportation. Another feasible solution could be to divert more funding to the infrastructure in the rural parts. This financial support could be used to construct more houses, hospitals, and schools, which can dramatically prevent more individuals from moving to cities.
In conclusion, air pollution and the attraction of better life quality in urban areas are to blame for the fall in the standard of living of people who reside in cities, and I am convinced that the proposed solutions can be executed to reverse the trend.
