Band 6+: The key solution for the environmental issues is for the current generation to live a less comfortable life to benefit future generations. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, pollution levels have been increasing significantly, like climate change, seawater rise and green house effect. The consensus is that reducing the comfort level of today’s generation helps to mitigate futuristic problems. However, I’m of the opinion that a reduction in people’s comfort is not the only way that helps future generations in terms of reducing environmental problems. Analyzing the effect on nature, there are some initiatives that have some positives which help without reducing comfort. Like afforestation, regulating some policies by the government and other efforts by humans which don’t have any effect on their daily lives.

Firstly, the government should ban plastic uses. Shop owners should be patronized to use paper bags and cloth bags. Furthermore, having such an initiative helps to reduce the production of plastics and also not have any problems with their future disposition. Moreover, planting more trees helps to maintain oxygen levels, is another positive approach which reduces pollution to some extent. For instance, planting more trees in industrial areas or on government land not only helps to maximize the level of oxygen but also embellishes the structure or land. Thus, it’s clear that, without reducing comfort levels, it’s possible to take care of nature for upcoming generations.

Secondly, people are get used to energy conservation. After using mod-cons, it is over duty to switch off the power. As more than one piece of equipment has a tendency to consume electricity even if you turn it off without unplugging it. What is more, using public transport is one of the best approaches that one should take. It can help to mitigate the pollution level by not releasing toxic fumes in the air. It is, indeed, pocket-friendly for them. Although there are some tasks which one needs to do for the betterment of nature for future generations, it doesn’t have any effect on their current lives.

To sum up, taking such an approach helps to alleviate pollution without compromising today’s living. If these tasks are positively implemented, a greater positive impact would be seen down the road.
