In the modern world, people spend a significant portion of their income on appearance, trying to look young, influenced by celebrities and society. I believe this is a harmful trend as it has more disadvantages.
To begin with, in today’s world, everyone wishes to appear younger than their actual age because they are influenced by celebrities who promote beauty products. People also do not hesitate to purchase more expensive items to enhance their appearance. Additionally, individuals tend to follow those around them or societal trends, as the saying goes, a melon changes its colour after seeing it. For instance, a recent survey conducted last year by the Emami company found that urban citizens spend 10 to 20 per cent of their income on beauty products compared to those living in villages.
However, there are a few drawbacks if it is not done under controlled conditions. As people buy beauty products based on their idols or other famous figures, they may develop skin infections after using them. Moreover, cosmetic products often make false promises to innocent customers, and consumers are influenced by their words, wasting their hard-earned money. For example, a beauty product, “fair and lovely,” advertised that a dark-skinned person could turn white after using the cream, but the promise did not materialise, and the young generation wasted valuable earnings.
In a nutshell, there is no doubt that beauty products make individuals’ appearance more attractive, although it is temporary; in fact, true beauty lies in character and inner qualities, which are long-lasting or eternal if people work hard and maintain good morals rather than wasting money on beauty products.
