Band 6+: To learn effectively, children need to eat a healthy meal at school. How true is statement? Whose responsibility is it provide food for school children?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Healthy meals are very essential in contributing to children’s lives. Healthy meals are foods that are nutritious and can have a beneficial impact on human health. In children, nutritious foods are required especially for their physical and cognitive development. Studies have proved that children at school who had a nutritious breakfast are more likely to concentrate better than children who did not have a nutritious breakfast. However, there appears to be a problem at school with who is responsible for fulfilling children’s nutritional requirements when they are at school. Should the parents educate their children in healthy food choices or should the school provide the school children meals according to what they need?

Some parents may think that it is the school’s responsibility to provide nutritious meals for the students as they have already paid the expensive school tuition. However, some parents may believe that their children should only eat from their cooking as it is more nutritious and hygienic. I think it needs a collaborative effort between the school and parents.

It is the parent’s responsibility to introduce and educate their children to healthy foods. So when the parents are not around, children will still be able to make healthy food choices as those are the foods that they are familiar with. Nonetheless, schools are also given the responsibility for children’s nutritional feeds and not just for academic purposes. Schools should be able to sort out the kind of foods that should be allowed or restricted from selling in the school canteen or cafeteria.

In conclusion, children’s nutritional needs are not only the school’s or the parent’s responsibility, but it needs collaborative work to achieve bright and healthy children.
