While pets are nurtured at home in many families, some people are concerned that these animals pose a threat to children. This essay will first provide some threats that pets can cause to children before suggesting several viable solutions to address these concerns.
Pets endangering children can be attributed to a host of factors. One of these is that children can be injured by pets’ natural reactions when playing with them. This is because children are usually curious but lack sufficient understanding of animals, so they can accidentally touch pets’ sensitive areas such as the tail, ears, or belly. As a result, these actions make pets go furious and attack children as a way to protect themselves. At the same time, children’s health can be affected seriously since many animal infectious diseases can be transmitted to humans. For instance, rabies, a fatal viral infection, can be spread through bites or scratches from infected animals. This health risk is concerning for young children, whose immune systems are not yet fully developed.
In order to tackle the above-mentioned issues, the following measures should be adopted. First, it is suggested that parents should tell their children enough basic information about animals and how to play with them safely. Especially, with under-three-age children, who do not have the ability to remember all the notes, parents should supervise them in playtime with pets. At the same time, fauna disease prevention should be taken to protect their pets’ health. For example, families should have pets fully vaccinated and clean to minimize the risk of having a virus or parasitic infection. These initiatives, if implemented properly, can go a long way towards creating a safer and healthier living environment for children and pets alike.
In conclusion, animal reactions and health risks are the major reasons why people are afraid of children being threatened. However, I believe this problem can be effectively countered by education and supervision in children’s playtime and taking care of their pets.
