When we say human error, it refers to their laziness, distraction, etc., and thereby they have more chances to make mistakes during work than machines. However, robots perform tasks on time and accurately, and that they are active 24 hours a day, regardless of time, clearly differentiates them from humans. Moreover, they can learn tasks and skills in a very short period of time, which is another aspect that differentiate them from us. For instance, Sanctuary AI, a Canadian company creating AI-powered humanoid robots, has unveiled the latest iteration of robot Phoenix. Sanctuary said the latest Phoenix model can learn tasks in less than 24 hours, rather than taking weeks as previously, which the company said marks a “major inflection point” in task automation.
On the other hand, it has a many negative sides. One of them is that many workers will face losing their jobs, which is not so easy to find a new job nowadays. Furthermore, the other drawback is that automatic devices such as robots and machines require electricity or other energy source while human did not have such needs when doing tasks. Another downside of robotization, the initial cost of implementing robotic system can be extremely high. While automation may save money in the long run, the initial investment required for purchasing and programming robots, and this expense is difficult for small and medium companies.
In conclusion, robotization has many benefits such as minimizing human error, increasing efficiency, and doing tasks around the clock, it also brings about some challenges. Difficulties when finding job, needs for energy source, fuel and etc., are the main problems about replacing humans. Moreover, initial investment for automation is one of the major concerns.
