Band 7+: It is often thought that the increase in juvenile crime can be attributed to violence in the media. What do you think is the reason for the growth in the rate of juvenile crime? What solutions can you offer to deal with this situation

It is often argued that juvenile crime is frequently attributed to the brutality depicted in the media. This violence can negatively influence young people’s attitudes and behavior, especially when combined with a lack of parental guidance, leading to teenage delinquency. However, this issue can be addressed by establishing clear guidelines and rules while encouraging parents to take an active role in their children’s lives.

Several factors have contributed to the rise in juvenile crime. One major cause is the impact of violence in media, including films and online games. The violent content portrayed poses a significant threat to the behavior and attitudes of young people, resulting in changes to their conduct, such as speaking disrespectfully to their parents or engaging in fights. Additionally, a lack of parental guidance can push teenagers towards delinquency. When parents neglect their responsibilities, children may exhibit violent behavior, often because they feel ignored. Consequently, the likelihood of children resorting to harmful activities, such as drug abuse or violence, increases.

Despite these apparent causes, there are concrete actions that governments can take to mitigate this problem. Firstly, parents should establish clear guidelines and rules for their children. This involves being actively involved in their children’s lives and spending quality time together. By setting procedures and rules, children can be guided towards more positive behaviors. Secondly, it is important to encourage parents to engage actively in their children’s lives, as their involvement is crucial. Children absorb behaviors and values from their parents through everyday interactions.

In conclusion, juvenile crime is influenced by the attitudes and actions of young people, as well as the delinquency that arises from a lack of parental supervision. This issue can be effectively addressed by implementing clear rules and actively engaging in children’s lives.
