Nowadays, more and more people are living in megacities. Although improving public transportation and electrocars, people who live in giant cities suffer from many serious problems in their enivorment and streets such as traffic jams and air pollution. For controlling them, government should introduce taxes to polluting cars and factories or they can limit car ownership.
Firstly, in megacities, the public transport does not have enough development as well as other facilities of city, they are not comfortable and suitable and so some people who have personal vehicles prefer to use their private cars. As a result, everyday citizen are in a heavy traffic jam and waste their time. For instance, Nigeria is ranked with highest traffic jam. Although, it is a major problem but with a few proper ways that can be solved, such as introducing laws to taxes on polluting cars and factories or they can limit on car ownership.
There are some useful solutions to reduce traffic jams and air pollution. Firstly, the government should introduce taxes on polluting cars and factories. So people will try to use cleaner vehicles or stop using and companies must improve their technology. This can reduce the amount of harmful gases in the air. Secondly, they can limit car ownership, allowing families or individuals to have only one vehicle. For example, in Singapore, they have such roles in car ownership, as a result, the number of cars on the roads decrease and city have less traffic. In addition, building more bike lanes and improving public transport can also encourage citizens to avoid using their private cars. Therefore, with these actions can be improved step by step.
In conclusion, living in megacities brings many challenges such as traffic jam and air pollution. Although public transportation and electric vehicles are developing, these problems still affect citizens’ daily lives. Governments can take effective measures such as introducing taxes on polluting cars and factories, limiting car ownership, and improving public transport and bike lanes. By doing these solutions, cities can gradually reduce traffic and pollution, making life more comfortable for their residents.
