Band 7+: The increasing reliance on online communication has led to a decline in face-to-face interactions, particularly among young people. What problems does this pose, and what steps can be taken to encourage more personal communication?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many people, particularly young adults, rely heavily on online communication rather than face-to-face interaction. This trend has led to several problems, including increased introversion and a decline in teamwork skills. However, these issues can be solved by limiting excessive device use and encouraging greater participation in social events.

With the popularity of social media applications, young people started to communicate mainly through them, everyone has found the most comfortable application and started to rely on it. Almost all of the interactions are happening with the help of online communication, whether people just want to send an email about work or they want to discuss something with their friends or relatives. All of these interactions have led to decrease in face-to-face communication, since there is no need to go somewhere far away to make an appointment or share information. However, there are some consequences of this trend. Firstly, young adults become introverted, since there is no need to interact face-to-face, and they used to relying on having time for reply and grammar checker. Secondly, using only online interactions would have an impact on reducing teamwork skills, students or young workers potentially could lose this skill, which will be reflected in their work efficiency, performance and motivation.

There are several solutions in order to increase face-to-face interactions. First of all, organisations such as universities and work companies should find some options to maximise real interactions. It could be some restrictions to asking questions only online, because for instance the question suggests a long answer with explanations, which of course it will be easier to answer face-to-face. Another solution will be organising more social events during the year, not only having a New Year´s Eve celebration, but also some other holidays, as well as some team building events or other workshops.

In conclusion, among young adults there is a growing reliance on online communication, which leads them to be more introverted and to a loss of teamwork skills. Nevertheless, there are solutions in order to increase face-to-face interactions, which are to organise more events for young adults and to put some restrictions on online communication.

Many universities are now offering online courses and degrees. What are the advantages and disadvantages of online education compared to traditional classroom learning? Should governments prioritize funding for online or traditional education models?

People argue if universities should offer all degree programs online, and many people talk about how many advantages and disdvantages it has. Some museums and art galleries charge admission fees, while others have free entry. Do you think the advantages of charging for admission outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In many museums people have to pay for visiting, whilst others are free to join. Despite some financial benefits of funding new exhibits, I completely agree that drawbacks of lower population outweigh any advantage. Charging for admission gives the museums the opportunity to recieve a high income that can lead to a greater quality of […]

Whether people achieve their ambition is mainly a matter of luck has been long debated. While favourable circumstances can sometimes give individuals an initial advantage. I strongly disagree with the view that success is mostly determined by chance, as lasting achievement is far more closely linked to persistence, sound judgement, and the environment in which a person grows up.

Nowadays, a lot of people are eating less mainly because they want a better physical appearance. Is it a positive or negative development?

Nutritional restrictions have become commonplace. People tend to curb themselves in such terms due primarily to the tendency toward attaining an ideal physical appearance. I firmly believe that taking such actions might trigger negative repercussions rather than guaranteeing solid results in this matter. Having followed calorie restriction or even ‘semi-starvation’ methods, individuals do not fully […]
