It is undeniable that more and more people suffer from serious medical conditions because of their obesity. I personally believe that the rise of overweight people stems from modern lifestyles, including the ubiquity of fast food and sedentary habits. This problem can be tackled in several ways, and I will propose them in this essay.
In this 21st century, people usually crave expedient and comfort in their bustling lives. It is really hard for a lot of people to prepare for a balanced diet at home since they need to spend most of their time on transportation, social occasions and enormous backlog. Undoubtedly, sugary and junk food are commonplace in neighborhood, offering a wide range of options, delicious taste, and convenience. Therefore, people tend to buy those food instead of cooking a healthy meal by themselves. Furthermore, as technology becomes crucial in today’s workplace, some electronic devices such as laptops make employees stick to their seats for hours. This sedentary lifestyle leads to no chance or excuse for people to move their bodies adequately, resulting in health issues like stiff muscles and obesity. Those are two root causes of the growth in overweight people in society.
However, there are various solutions to mitigate this problem. The first one would be raising prices and tax on those unhealthy food. In this way, many people feel reluctant to purchase them easily due to their high prices. Secondly, the government should encourage celebrities to participate in promoting healthy lifestyles with campaigns or advertisements. It would be really effective because a lot of young people look up to them as their role models in their lives. For instance, if a famous public figure appears in some educational videos, showcasing nutritious recipes or work-out routine, their audience will surely practice those methods in their daily basis. Last but not least, monitoring several meals that are sold in school and workplace cafeteria is also necessary to prevent obesity problems. This way can be performed by limiting the amount of junk food and installing more healthy options.
In conclusion, it is evident that some modern lifestyles have contributed to the increasing number of people having serious health issues due to their extensive calories. Meanwhile, if we can implement those solutions effectively, this overweight problem will unequivocally be solved sooner and faster.
