Most successful professional athletes may earn significantly more money than people that working in other important professions that contribute to society. Some people strongly believe that this is fully justified, whereas others think it is not. I totally agree that professional athletes deserve their high earnings because their sports can be risky, and their success shows how talented and hardworking they are. Not everyone can achieve the same.
To begin with, some individuals arguing it is unfair that sports professionals earn more money than other important professions. They believe that doctors, teachers, and firefighters contribute more directly to society by saving lives, educating people, and protecting communities. For example, a teacher plays a key role in the future of society, yet their salary is often much lower than that of top sportsmen. Therefore, many people think that income should be based on social importance rather than popularity.
However, I believe it is noteworthy that the main reason why they earn more than others is the dangerous nature of their sport. Firstly, many sports that involve cars are risky. For example, Formula 1 drivers compete at very high speeds, which makes their sport extremely dangerous. Accordingly at the Rio 2016 Olympics, nearly 37.5% of competitors suffered injuries, which highlights how dangerous high-level sports can be and helps explain why professional athletes often earn high salaries.
Overall, although some people believe it is unfair, I think that professional athletes deserve high earnings because of the dangers they face and the hard work they put into their caree
