To commence with, the garden made way for several places, such as a shop, a café, and a human origins display, which represented a significant transformation. The mammals section was demolished, and it was replaced by an Ice Age exhibition and an insects area.
More importantly, on the left side, the mammals area was replaced by an Ice Age exhibition, and a new insects section was added between the dinosaur and ocean halls. The garden was removed and changed into an indoor area with a human origins display, a shop, and a café. However, the ocean hall, dinosaur hall, lobby, entrance, and ticket desk stayed in the same places, although the museum became bigger and more modern.
