A huge number of people show a lack of concern about ecological problems. I partially agree that many environmental issues remain the same and do not receive enough attention and awareness from the public. However, there are some powerful organizations that annually save an enormous number of lives, encouraging many people to volunteer or make financial contributions.
Nowadays environmental damages could have widespread awareness and be solved quickly, thankfully by social media that promotes and encourages more attention to volunteering and help. In other words, social media as a source of communication advances the tendency of public influence. For example, in 2023 the US planned to open the Willow project that has a negative irreversible effect on the environment and triggers global warming. This devastating project had quickly received widespread awareness and worries of the public, after which a petition was created against building that oil factory. As a result, this project was rejected. Therefore, social media and wide awareness play a significant role in ecological projects.
However, many regional environmental damages remain unresolved and receive only minimal aid or attention from the government. In other terms, the authorities often try to hide all details of damage, because it could trigger public protests. For instance, the floods in Dagestan, where many inhabitants lost their homes and family members, even influencers and private channels tried to promote this situation for more attention and involvement. However, this collapse has not received enough aid to repair the damage. Consequently, neither in the news nor volunteer organizations have information about victims of the situation.
In conclusion, I partially agree that many environmental disasters have not received enough attention, but it depends on people’s awareness. Therefore, i believe that all depends on each individual.
