International food products are becoming increasingly popular and are deemed to be more convenient for customers who purchase them at the supermarket. In my opinion, this trend will bring positive and negative impacts. This essay will outline both effects of this growth.
One benefit is that buyers can access a greater variety of choices of the products they prefer. For instance, apple trees are not able to grow in tropical countries such as Cambodia. It is thought to be a good opportunity to allow other nations of the world to know the taste of apples by bringing them from overseas to the convenience store. Furthermore, another positive enhancement is the contribution to the development of the international economy and trade cooperation. By permitting the importing of products, the government gains taxes and also ensure food security is well established.
However, others have suggested that the import of foreign food will have detrimental effects on local goods and producers. People who rely mainly on earning money from domestic products may lose their income. For example, milk produced in Cambodia struggles to compete with other international milk brands in terms of price and brand name. Additionally, environmental pollution is often a major concern caused by transporting goods through ships and airlines. Global food products should be limited to avoid the damage to the ozone layer resulting from the combustion of fuel by these means of travel.
In conclusion, while I acknowledge the doubts of many individuals regarding regional farmers, I suggest that bringing items from overseas has more benefits not only for consumers but also for local manufacturers by promoting healthy competition and contributing to the global economy.
