In recent years, the hours children spent on watching TV and playing computer games have alarmingly increased. Some people argue that this trend results in detrimental cosequences on children’s mental well-being. While I agree with this point of view, I believe TV programs and computer games have positive effects as well.
On the one hand, several negative effects can be brought about if children immerse themselves in TV programs and computer games. One significant issue is that some essential skills, such as communication ability and interapersonal skill, may deteriorate. As a result, they cannot make friends in real world and ultimately feel loneliness and bear isolation, leading to bearing mental strain. Sedentary lifestyle is another consequence, jeoparedizing health condition, followed by health issues, such as obesity. Therefore, obese children may be mocked or teased in schools, resulting in body shaming and even depression.
On the other hand, wathcing TV shows and playing video games can be advantageous if the amount of time on which juveniles spend is appropriate and undercontrol. Initially, their creativity can be nurtured. Beneficial contents are not only thought provoking but also cognetive ability booster, making young people more creative, which can be useful in their schools lessons. Moreover, video games and TV program can have ducational purposes, helping children learn life lesson through them. Finally, colorful TV shows and games master their visual intelligence.
In conclusion, in my opinion watching TV shows and playing video games can have both advantages and disadvantages. Whereas devoting too much time to them leads to detrimental effects, striving for a balance and allocating enough time can have several favorable outcomes.
