The given table depicts the number of students who earn the qualifications for English language teachers in the United Kingdom and the percentage of male earners in 2007/8 and 2008/9. From a holistic perspective, it is transparent that females obtained more qualifications than that of male during the period.
Examining the table of 2007 to 2008, the rate of English Language Teachers earned by females dominated the chart at 23,842, making 3 folds higher than that of males at 8,165, making up 24,7% of the total of 32,930. Following the TEFL, there were 25,446 qualifications of the total, including female at 18,460 and male with 6,780, accounting for 26,9%. While Cambridge UCLES CELTA & other degrees had the lowest figures with females gaining qualifications at 5,878, higher than that of male at 966 representing 17,3%.
Regarding the year 2008 and 2009, females remained in the first position with 24,324, making 4 times higher than that of male at 7,511 representing 22,7% of the total of 32,945. For the TELF, 24,917 qualifications were awarded with 18,446 for females and 6,545 for males which was 26.2%. While the figures for Cambridge UCLES CELTA & other degrees increased steadily to 8,028, female and male earned 5,878 and 966 respectively.
