The two maps illustrates the changes which occured in a coastal town named portland between 1950 and 2007. It is evident that the coastal are has changed over the years.
Overall, it is clear that, portland has developed drastically over 57 years and many new apartments, houses, shops are constructed in the given period.
After analyzing the maps, it can be clearly seen that, In 1950, ocean was located on the northern side of portland. In addition, there was a straight main road which divided the town into two parts, left and right. The right road led to car park while left one led to industrial area and the remaining area was just grassland.
Furthermore, maps collects that, In 2007, many improvement were done in portland. A new Yacht Marina was constructed alongside the sea. Moreover, In the northwest corner of the town, industrial area was replaced by park connected with swimming pool and a multi storey car park area. Additionally, on the right side of road, car park has been removed and apartments were constructed at that land. Also, many shops were opened on the both sides of roads. On the southeast corner, new residency area has been built and in southwest corner, a cinema was constructed.
