The given line graph illustrates how many occupations were available in four various economic spheres in the US over a period of 60 years.
Towards the end of the period, the employment rates in the Retail and the Healthcare sectors increased significantly, while the figures for Manufacturing and Agriculture fields generally declined. Furthermore, the most dramatic trend was recorded in the Healthcare industry.
Delving into the details, the highest number of occupations belonged to the Manufacturing industry, accounting for 15 million in 1960. However, it was then followed by an increase of 5 million in 1980, before decreasing drastically to around 13 million in 2020. Similarly, the figure for Agriculture also fell by approximately 4 million ( from 6 million to 2 million) between 1960 and 2020, indicating that it had the lowest quantity of jobs.
Regarding the Retail sector, it had twice as many jobs as in the Healthcare, at approximately 6 and 3 million respectively. By 2020, the figure for it witnessed a considerable rise to just over 15 million. Conversely , the figure for the Healthcare sector also went up considerably to approximately 15 million in 2020, even though it had less vacancies than those of other three spheres.
