Granted, one of the primary disadvantages of advertising is that it incurs a substantial amount of costs. The production of promotion causes financial loss to businesses. Consequently, customers have to pay more for each product. A relevant example is that Apple spends around 55% of the selling price of an iPhone on advertisement. Nevertheless, this marketing method helps products reach a broader audience. As a result, it expands brand recognition and increases the chances of finding potential customers for brands, boosting overall revenue. For this reason, the profits that ads bring will exceed the cost of producing it.
Admittedly, another drawback of promotion is disrupting the user experience. For instance, there are a variety of advertisements such as pop-up ads and banners that are annoying to many people. Nonetheless, viewers can use ad-block softwares or provide financial aid to service providers. Therefore, the initial inconvenience of advertising will no longer be a major obstacle.
On the other hand, there are several prominent advantages of commercials. First, viewing ads enables customers to access significant useful information. As a result, they can make more informed purchasing decisions, in accordance with their needs and preferences. Furthermore, a second glaring benefit is that the advertising industry creates new job opportunities for many professions. For example, individuals working in fields such as content creation, modeling, design, and photography.
To summarize, despite certain disadvantages that promotion can bring about, namely considerable cost and inconvenience for users, I would contend that the advantages associated with offering essential data to viewers and making additional occupations for several specific fields are far more pronounced.
