As population is growing, green zones of natural beauty in urban areas are being used for construction new residential zones. I believe that disadvantages of losing green spaces, outweigh the benefits.
On the one hand, building houses on natural places in cities can solve housing shortages, as growing populations now need more and more places for living. For example, in megacities like Tokyo, where the population is growing day by day, using free land for residential purposes has helped accommodate millions of people and prevent an increase in homelessness. Secondly, it also boosts the infrastructure. For instance, with the advent of new residential buildings, it also developed roads, schools, and playground facilities.
On the other hand, demolishing parks and gardens for housing brings serious consequences. Firstly, it affects our environment as it leads to more pollution and loss of biodiversity. For example, when we are losing the green spaces, the first thing that suffers is the air, because there are fewer natural fresh air filters. Moreover, it also impacts on biodiversity. Construction homes on the natural land destroy ecosystems, flora and fauna that reduce the biodiversity.
In conclusion, although it solves the problem with homelessness and improves the quality of life, it also damages the environment, reducing the quality of air and losing the animals and plants.
