The emergence of modern technological devices such as mobile phones or computers has led to a shift away from writing letters among many individuals, and some might argue that this conventional writing skill is likely to vanish in the future. In this essay, however, I will challenge this school of thought.
Admittedly, the advent of advanced gadgets like mobile phones or computers might be advantageous about better speed and correction of writing. This is predicated on the assumption that individuals can check and correct their essays or assignments via automatic spelling checker inserted in their computers, fostering the correction of their writing. Furthermore, such digital devices enable their users to type texts or write e-mails with a significant speed compared to traditional ways of writing, probably saving a massive amount of time for individuals. Thus, it is discernible that technological advancements could facilitate their user to write more efficiently.
However, these modern technological devices cannot entirely worsen the traditional skill of writing letters for several reasons. Foremost among these is that with a piece of paper, writer could carry it around with themselves easier than a smart phone or a laptop, allowing them to write at any time and any where. In addition, without excessive exposure to screens, writer can deter themselves from suffering from health problems such as eye strain, facilitating them to write letters or do homework for prolonged periods. Therefore, people undoubtedly will not give up the conventional methods, so the writing letter skills could not be disappeared of writing, albeit the effectiveness of technology.
In conclusion, although technological gadgets may bring about the effectiveness regarding higher writing speed and correction, they cannot supplant totally the traditional ways of writing thanks to their portability and healthiness.
