One school of thought holds that people are gradually losing the habit of walking on a regular basis. This essay attempts to shed light on the driving factors behind this perspective before outlining several viable solutions that should be adopted to tackle it.
There are two primary reasons as to why fewer people get into the habit of walking regularly. Firstly, the heavy use of technological gadgets has facilitated laziness among people. For example, some Vietnamese youngsters choose to relax by playing games or surfing social media to talk to their friends instead of going outside for a walk alone. Secondly, in underdeveloped or developing countries, there is not adequate space for physical activities. Take, For instance, Thailand, where the majority of elderly people prefer staying at home to walking outside due to traffic jams. Accidents could occur at any time if they do not walk in appropriate places, such as parks or sporty places.
To combat this worrying issue, the following essential steps should be taken. One possible solution is that they could invite their friends or those who are in favor of walking to participate together. For instance, they could share their stories while taking a troll together, as a result, such an activity could become much more entertaining and fun, thereby helping them gradually get into the habit of walking more often. Another remedy is that the authorities should construct more parks to encourage people to walk more. For example, in developed countries, every district builds up an open environment for all ages to take part in doing some sports that they have an interest in, such as walking, jogging, and cycling. This, thus, has significantly increased people’s involvement in physical training, leading to an improvement in their overall health.
In conclusion, there are some underlying motives behind this negative perception toward walking outside, and it is crucial that the aforementioned measures be implemented to deal with this issue.
