In this technological age, various types of individuals’ information are held on devices and computers by different agencies and organizations across many countries. This practice has become increasingly controversial, with many people claiming that agencies should not keep personal information about individuals. Many of these agencies refuse to disclose information about people’s lives. In my opinion, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because our information can be exploited in meaningless ways. Additionally, there is a potential risk that it could put us in danger.
One of the main reasons why personal information should not be retained by agencies in various countries is that employers may use our information for trivial purposes. Such actions could enrich employers at our expense, allowing them to earn money without putting in any effort. For instance, they might use our personal data and finances for gambling or games that involve monetary stakes, or they could sell our information at a high price to individuals who may be stalking us. This mindset of seeking to gain money without working could foster negative habits within the country.
On the other hand, some people believe that when other companies organize our personal information, they can actually assist us. For example, if we lose our phone or any device, and our own country loses our personal data, another country might be able to help us by transferring our information to a new device or even assisting us in locating our lost device.
In conclusion, while keeping our personal information by different countries may be beneficial for some, it could also be harmful to others. Personally, I view it as potentially malicious because trust is hard to come by these days, and the only person I can truly rely on is myself. Therefore, everyone should be cautious about sharing their personal information.
