In recent years, a masive reduction of traditional arts and crafts is observed around the world. This decrease is the consequence of several reasons such as globalization and new technologies.
The phenomeon of globalization provoked is the origin of a lost of local creations. Through the centuries, the connections between countries and continents kept increasing. Therefore, there had a spread of various stranger cultures, causing a lower presence of the original culture. For instance, when the Ottoman Empire settled Spain, a brand new kind of religious art appeared. In fact, they created churches with similar look to the mosquees.
In addition, the growth of new technologies transformed the national artistic cultures. Manufacturing has always been the principal way for human to express their art. However, since industrialisation, important quantities of products are made at low prices. As a consequence the small producers who sold local creations were forced to close their shops and work for massive industries. As an example, during 19th century in Europe, we noticed a huge rise of the labour class in contrast to the significant derease of the artisants.
The preservation of traditional culture is now a major issue for the countries. That is the reason why governments, such as the French parliement, put in action financial aid to support little buisnesses. Moreover, this parliement and many other countries made the patrimony day; a day in which museums and other buildings that are symbols of the national culture are free. It allows children but also adults to discover their traditions.
To conclude, the mix of cultures in the different countries and the Industrial Revolution modified the traditions. Nevertheless, the nations try to limit by supporting things that promote culture such as local artisans and patrimony day.
