Band 5+: Some claim that the media is unnecessarily biased. What are the reasons for this? What can be done about it?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, people have a partial attitude towards the media, and a group of people claim that this approach is not necessary and exaggerated. From my perspective, some influences can make people act in this way. The objective of this essay is to examine the factors responsible for this and also suggest a variety of means to deal with the situation.

To begin with, it seems that we have officially entered the age of fake news and alternative facts which makes the media untruthful, and this tendency makes people be prejudiced against the news. To exemplify, some journalists share the news which has not been verified or are distorted, and after a while, the correct version can be revealed and the previous one becomes untrustworthy, which makes people not believe the media news. Secondly, in the modern world, we witness different types of accidents, and these trends makes news often focused on bad one. To illustrate, apparently, our brain has a negativity bias, which means we give more weight to negative events and thoughts than to positive ones.

On the other hand, fortunately, there are an array of solutions to mitigate the certain conditions. First and foremost, there should be some prohibitions for some journalists to make public the news which are not plausible, and this process may alleviate and reduce the partial views of humans. Additionally, the articles which are doubtful should be verified by officials after being pressed. In order to combat the second cause, whenever possible, editors should strive for a balance between negative and neutral or positive news.

To conclude, not being impartial towards the media stems from different causes, hopefully, there are some solutions to tackle the problems which I mentioned above.
