In today’s modern world there is ongoing debate about whether watching TV has pros or cons for children. While some people think spending time in front of TV provides valuable advantages, others believe that it has a negative effect on children. Personally, I support the latter view.
Supporters of excessive screen-time argue that children can learn a lot from TV programs without any harm. For example, letting children spend time watching certain programs in a new foreign language can provide an additional language skill in the future. Moreover, compared to previous TV channels in 90s, modern ones deliver expanded and updated information that is valuable for future generations.
On the other hand, while watching TV children tend to spend time outdoors less, which can lessen their physical activity. As socializing is the key in young age, children are more likely to acknowledge the environment and reality from their peers. Furthermore, the more children watch TV, the more they may harm their mental health and nervous system.
In my opinion, although TV can offer certain advantages, exploring and developing through real life and books is more beneficial.
In conclusion, while some people value TV programs for their practical benefits, I am convinced that reducing the screen-time leads to a stressless future and improves the quality of life.
